Inspecting your own work--ISO unspoken no-no!?!?

Just don't perform an internal audit on the same area yourself.
While the requirements are semantically different in 13485 and 9001, this issue has led to one of the most contentious threads in this space.

Just to throw a spanner into the works: The FAA just announced that they will put “more boots on the ground” at Boeing acknowledging that letting Boeing perform the FAA audits/inspections has been a disaster. (Essentially auditing and inspecting their on work).

My point is not that you can’t or shouldn’t audit/inspect your own work but the motivation and agenda are critical. Conflict of interest isnt really a position related thing; it’s an intent thing

Yes. In vehement agreement. While a culture of spreading blame for mistakes and defects tends to backfire, it is critical for a culture of accountability to exist, if the workforce is to be made co-responsible for quality, workmanship, etc.

I only hope that, if the FAA will assign more resources and spend more time in the oversight of the BA plants, they must split the efforts between the shopfloor and the boardroom. If they really want to fight a corporate culture that allows an unsafe aircraft to be delivered, they must spend time with “leadership”; not only the blue collar workers.
