From my automotive background we had a somewhat similar problem with a Customer (just not exactly the same with a bushing) and agreeing on measurement. What finally got us past the forth and back was to use the identical CMM program and temperature for measurement(it was an aluminum casting for an engine Cam Carrier). Can you share the same program? We used PC-DMIS.
I still think the CMM is overkill ... just because you can get variable data doesn't mean you should unless the data is used to feedback to process control for the product being made/machined.
You are correct, without some agreement, this will go on forever. This customer is not normally one that is difficult to deal with as so many are. That is why I am hoping to get some ideas from other places to assist me in reasoning with them. Thanks!
