Inspection Report for machined part

Hi,

Our small company machines parts. As per customer requirements, certain key characteristics have different measurement frequencies.

For example, if we have to make 100 pieces of Part A, there are 10 features that need to be measured:

  • Characteristic 1: 1 in 5 pieces
  • Characteristic 2: 1 in 10 pieces
  • Characteristic 3: first and last pieces
  • ...and so on.
The inspection report will travel with a job card. The machine operator will measure the features using manual measuring tools or go/no-go gauges, and some features will be measured by a CMM. A QC engineer will also perform random checks to verify the operator's measurements. If a non-conformance report (NCR) is issued, we must inspect two or three pieces made prior to the non-conforming piece.

I need to create an inspection report template that reflects this process flow. Based on the measurement frequency requirements, we would likely need to measure approximately 20 pieces per job, assuming there are no NCRs.

Since the report will be printed on A4 paper, I can't fit a table with 20 empty cells. I would like to know how to design an inspection report that accommodates measurements for many parts in a single job.

Also, if there is NCR, then we also measure extra, where should I record this information? Just attach additional inspection report?

That is pretty much going to be what you think will work best for you. You might go thru several versions before you find one everyone likes.
