Re: Need Instrument to check Internal Bottled Bore Diameter
Dear Umang,
YOu have again mistaken. If you see the attachment where in I have posted a skimatic diagram of the component you will understand. It is not 250 mm that I have to check. My bottled bore starts from 250mm depth & the length of the bore is about 1950 mm.
I can not insert bore gauge because for the first 250 mm lenght bore diameter is less. I have to check higher bore diamenter after that. Tolerance is 0.4mm.
Have any solution?

Do not get frustrated Shiva. If there is a problem-there always is a solution. Have a second look with an open mind, and don't forget that 'Minds, like parachutes, work only when open'.
I reiterate at the cost of repitition, that 'Translating calipers' are the ideal and cheaper solutions. I have used them plenty of times, length of the bore not withstanding. For longer jobs you may make the caliper using alluminium alloy to make it light weight. If you need one meter to go inside the bore, you mae use only 1/2 or 1/4th Length above the fulcrum, outside the bore.
2. Have you tried using the second option of 'Telescopic dial gauge'? You may keep adding the rods to reach the desired depth.
3. You may also try contactless gauges (very expensive). The nozzles at both end expels air at high pressure which rebounds from the surface-to be- measured, impulses read by the instrument, which translate it into the exact measurement with accuracy in milli-inches! I have used these instruments long back in 'Indian Railways' around seventies. At that time these were imported from Japan, you may google for their availability in your area.
4. There are many more types of contactless measuring devices, using laser and other techniques. You may search google.
