Internal Audit of Customer Specific Requirements Checklist - Where to start?

I am scheduled to do a internal audit of customer specific requirements. I have the requiremnts for GM, but i am not sure where to start. This is a lot of ground to cover in 1 week. Any suggestions on where to start, and on a checklist or is there a list of predetermined questions I can use?
I am new to this and the website, so any infromation is apprectiated.

You need to determine which of the GM CSR's apply to you.
You must be clear on this and is usually determined during contract review.
Also, keep in mind that many of the CSR's align with ISO/TS 16949:2009.
The "trick" is to find out which ones....

Here is a post + attachment that shows how you can cross reference ISO/TS with GM's CSR's.
Please note that this Matrix is in an older post and is not up-to-date, but it gives you an idea how this could be accomplished.

OK, so if you don't know where to start, my question is, have you been trained to do internal audits? Are you the only one, or could you buddy up with someone? If you are registered to ISO/TS 16949 you should be competent in this stuff and the core tools, so how did you get assigned to do this? Just checking, because you want to avoid an nc from your CB...

I have had internal audit training, but all the areas I have audited have not been like this. It was a process, or a very defined scope. This is a small book of 36 pages of specific requirements for GM. Should I just use one part we supply and track it thru the specific requirments they expect? or should i go a different approach?

OK, so you know what process audits are. That's good. :agree1:
But, allow me to emphasize that not all GM requirements may apply to you.
So, you need to determine first what GM specifics apply.
Then you can integrate these requirements when you conduct a process audit.

Yup, in fact, you really should audit customer specifics as part of a process audit or one of your manufacturing process (control plan) audits, not as 'customer specifics' by themselves.

These GM requirements are not a process in and of themselves, so they should be included - as applicable - in the other processes you audit! You may wish to take a look at how your audits are being set up - have these been done before?

Hi,

here is some items i have created for my co and the CB is quite happy after going through the audit findings.

1) Use the same internal audit checklist format that you use to carry out the internal audits in your co

2) Get a copy of the most recent customer specified requirements (Supplier Quality Manual) of your customer.

3) Go through ALL those requirements in the supplier quality Manual.

4) If some of the requirements already in your current checklist, then you can omit those in your recent checklist that you have created for the customer specified requirements.

5) The checklist can be in a question form that you extract from the supplier quality manual (requirements).

6) Carry out an audit based on this questions that you have extracted from the customer specified requirements (supplier quality manual).

7) You will need to have an action plan for those not meeting your customer specified requirements and improve your co qms from here.
