Very common, I see it quite often, it's worse than trying to find an honest politician in DC. The reason? Very easy....$$$$$$$$$$

Yeah, I think it is as Randy said mostly a $$$$$$ issue. But if they weren't so cost averse I think the company could have used you to help ensure the contractor's objectivity while he/she mentored you so you could be better prepared to take over in the future.

Again very valid points, though at the moment, that is not something I can control or change. Like I said any help will be greatly appreciated in the meantime.

Thank you, but as I mentioned, that ship has sailed, there is only me and Top Management has been very clear that I am on my own, at least for this year. I will eventually take the Lead Auditor Course, to get the needed knowledge.

Good luck getting "needed knowledge", hopefully your instructor will actually have some real 1st hand knowledge to share and has the ability to share it. True knowledge is gained through experience and not looking at power point stuff and passing an open book test.
