Then again, there needs to be a way to align the audit methods, and at the very least one should get some kind of assurance that the same elements are being audited.

I imagine it would be quite a trick to get auditors to function the same way. It's probably a good thing there are no clones of me! :rolleyes:

I need to give the checklists a chance to succeed or fail. If I had 8 other clones of me, I'd know what I was getting. As it is, I don't have confidence I could send this group out to audit any one clause of the standard and get consistent results.

Can I suggest taking a look at my 'football' diagram? It's in the list of posted attachments. By utilizing something like this, even customizing it for certain processes, you should get some better results than 'element' checklists:agree1: You can find it if you click on the 'green box' link at the top of the page

Andy,
Do you happen to have training documentation to accompany the "football?" I also have used standardized lists in the past...for the reasons Jennifer listed. However, I am now in the position to develop a brand new, integrated (safety, environment and quality) system for a new company. The audit team hasn't been tainted by standardized lists, and I really like this model. It can be easily expanded to consider environmental and safety requirements in each process, too. Any training that accompanied this model would be appreciated!!! Thanks for the great attachment.
