Internal Audits - Design Process Measurement (Measureables)

Hi,

process masurement is still problem in my company. During the internal audits, we saw that measuring a process is still difficult. For instance measuring design process only depends on time or mistakes that was counted after the desing verification.

How can we make efficent measurement in this process ?

Who checks the design prior to validation? Do you have design reviews?

What about the design verification? Are you saying no one checks to see if the design inputs are being met? How do you know if your design is going to meet the design requirements?

Good idea, Stew. Got any examples of a design checklist?

Ask yourself what things are important in the design process. From there you can determine how you are going to measure, monitor and analyze that process. For example, accruacy is only one measurement. What about time? Does the design process meet timing requirement? If you can articulate an aspect of a process, you can find a measurement (if you want to)

Here's a few files, our checklist for the LD files is 64 items long it was developed from our FMEA and has been automated to generate a Pareto chart to track frequencies.
