Introduce a new auditor to the system?

My manufactuing company was bought again. I know this happens a lot however the change of registrars is getting old. The value is lost when an auditior knows the work and you lose them. The question is " I have a 5 visit cycle and have one more before the tri annual recert. Would it not be better to wait till the last audit and let the new registrar do the three year recert?
The is corporate driven but my case of just the twoman day rate may make a difference.....

Anyone and how is the best way to introduce a new auditor to the system?

Hello, Plato1! If it's OK with you, I moved your posts to the auditing discussion forum.

Are your two posts part of one question? Is it the same question? If I am wrong, let me (or another moderator) know, and we can help you set your questions up to get the best responses.

First, if your new corporate mandate is to use xyz for your certification, I would think that you would need to perform a new certification audit now, and forget about where you were in the old registrar's recertification schedule. As for introducing a new auditor, are you talking registrar (3rd party) or internal? thanks.

The company I work for was also recently acquired and as a result of this we have been informed that we will need to change our registrar. The information on this process we have so far is as follows:

1. Document review by our new registrar

2. Review of our previous registrars reports by our new registrar

This will cover us for 6months. AFter 6 months our new registrar will perform their first surveillance audit followed by annual surveillance audits and annual self assessment audits.

Welcome to the Cove.

My opinion would be that the new auditor should be brought in to start auditing now. There should be no difference in what the auditor will be looking at and little difference in auditing style (which you will have to learn to live with anyway). Most auditors conduct many audits during the year and should have little problem in fitting right in with your company. Your system is probably robust enough to stand up to any audit regardless the "newness" of the auditor.

My advice would be to welcome the new auditor and get on with it. You probably won't even notice the change.

O.K.
The current Registrar has one more visit in a 5 visit cycle before we would have a tri annual certification visit. This latest buyout of our company has been relaxed and we were told to keep our current registrar until things settle down?

Costs are in our favor to keep the current Registrar and have the "new" registrar come in before our current certificate expires in November of 2008.
Just trying to make the case to delay the switch. Maybe the case is not that strong.
If the new registrar has just a take over visit, how long typically (days) do they last?

How long would it last? It would purley depend upon the complexity of system, the employee population, your system's history, your regulatory history, the new registrars procedures and accreditation body requirements.

Pretty simple to figure out. It can be 1 day, 20 days or anything in between. More information is needed.

Randy has it!

Having worked for a registrar, we took over work many times from BSI :notme: and we would only add 1 extra day to the next scheduled visit - because we knew they did a good job. With a less than 'stellar' registration, we would add more days. It also depended on issues like how long a certification had been in place, etc. and often involved a look at key indicators of the system: - cust. sat., management review, internal audit results etc.

From this info a 'take over assessment' could be planned.

Man, I loved those............

I've done a couple lately that for one reason or another there was a change in Registrars (a very active member here in fact), and I have not observed any change in the days they were doing and what I have done except for some minor alterations with time because of the change and acccreditation requirements.

(Oh yeah, the work I inherited has been very, very well done in the past)

Andy! Are you tossing hints around?
