isopropyl alcohol is a cleaner not a lubricant. Available in 50%, 70 and 90% percent concentrations is routinely used in a clean rooms to wipe parts from dust and disinfect for sterile use.

I know what IPA is. Before you say it won't work as a lubricant in this application, why don't you try it and see? It may be an "off-label" kinda use, but it works well, and our aerospace inspectors and M&P mechanics use it as such (a light gage/thread lube) all the time.
