Is it really useful to implement EN 9100 in small companies (3 people)?

The other day a company (total 3 employees) informed me that one of its customers (member of ASD) wants to audit them i.a.w. EN 9100. The company is EASA approved i.a.w. Part 21, Subpart G (Production) and produces uncritical parts for A/C components. They have a quality system which was designed for the size and the requirements of their small company and they really "live" it. They are not against to consider EN 9100 in principle, but they worry that their quality system will become too complicated and additional personnel will be required to manage all that paperwork ............

What do you think? Is it really useful to implement 9100 in such small companies?

I don't know about EN 9100, but I do know a company which is certified to ISO 9001 with 1 employee. The secret is don't read too much into the standard and do what makes sense.
