Does someone can help give more examples of significant change?
I only think two things: repaired equipment/Relocation equipment.
Hi xyuan
MSA is a chain. It starts with the item you are making and ends with recording the final result. if any part of the chain is significantly different, you need to do another MSA study.
If you change your production equipment (better lathes = tighter tolerances) your current system may not be able to detect the smaller changes.
If you change the place where you do the measurement. Previously, you measured 'as machined', now you measure 'after machined and lapped'. Perhaps the tolerances are now tighter.
If you change to a new type of measuring equipment. Previously you were using vernier style gauges with 2 decimal places, now you are using micrometers with 3 decimal places and a ratchet to prevent overtightening. Greater resolution should give a better measurement system, but the staff have not used this equipment before.
If introduce a new regime for taking measurements. Previously, a single measurement was recorded, now you must take the average of 3 measurements.
