Is MSA useful to prove a Measurement System after Relocation?

I've been with quality for several years now, but by knowledge of MSA is vague at best :eek:.
I've been assigned a task - a CMM and measuring fixture are moved from overseas location to us and we have to prove that the measurements of the parts will not suffer. I know that CMM must be installed and calibrated, but am I right in my assumption that MSA for this fixture will provide evidence that CMM plus fixture can be commissioned?
If so, should I design MSA for two operators - before and after relocation? Or four? The fixture is designed to hold 80 pieces, so I assume that the only sound decision is to make MSA on 80 samples.
Can anybody comment?

I assume you'll be having the machine calibrated to previous spec's after the move.

The GR&R of the fixture is not necessarily a bad idea, but I would probably be more concerned with how well it matches the GR&R done prior to moving the machine. Example if the previous GR&R = 5% and now your at 19% some may say it is good, but we obviously see a difference.

It's a good idea to perform a basic reproducibility study.
yes 80 parts is OK although 30 woul also work. The ideal would be for the same 80 pieces to be measured twice before the move and twice after the move/calibration.

you can then directly assess if the repeatability was effected adn if there is a bias due to the move or calibration.

I would NOT use the standard Gage R&R as it will be only vaguely informative. I would use the Youden plot and simply calculate the measurement error for both studies and compare (SD_error = R-bar/1.128)
I woudl plot the two repeatability studies on their own Youden plots to comapre repeatability, then plot the first reading for each study on a thrid Youden plot to see if any bias is present. simple, easy, elegant.
