Went home, had a beer or 12, now I have to figure out what to do with my time. I've been chained to my computer writing procedures so long, I guess I should get out and actually look at the process. A quality manager's job is never done!:biglaugh:

I am proud to say that our company, as of December 19/02 was recommended for certification to the ISO 9001:2000 standard. I am absolutely thrilled. There is definitely a lot of work ahead of us now, that is for certain. But we have made it to the top of one mountain. Yahoo!!!!:D :D :D :smokin:

Hi All

Finished our ISO 9001:2000 conversion audit this afternoon, and we will be recommended.

Thanks to you all, especially energy, Jim, Martin, Randy (& more than I can name) and especially marc, for this site, for your help, and for keeping my sense of humor in check.

D**n, this feels good. The Plant Manager even gave me a "high five" when he found out. One of our 2 minors was because our operators were doing more PM than the procedure called for (greasing too much). The procedure was poorly written by me. They were looking after their process too well.

The other involved a Perry Johnson 17025 "registered" firm's calibration that included no data for 2 of the parameters on a tensometer. I should have caught it.

Have a phone call to make Monday...

Congrats CH!!!! First time I have have heard of getting a N/C for doing more than your procedure calls for. Although I guess they were "say what you do, do what you say." correct. At one company the auditor even praised the operator for do above what was called out.

The reason for the greasing N/C was the fear that the "extra" grease would break the seals on the bearings. The Operators know better than to do that, and were afraid that some of the bearings would dry out and fail if they only saw grease once a week. So, they do what it takes to maintain their system. Makes me a little proud, except I was the one who wrote the checklist, with input from Maint. & Engineering! We will use this opportunity to improve the process.

That's why we have audits, I guess.
