ISO 26262 standard may apply to automotive IC suppliers

Hello my company is supplying a component to an integrator who designs, builds and qualifies a complete system that is sold to Automotive OEMs. Any idea how the ISO 26262 standard may apply to automotive IC suppliers, as this is the same component concept?
