At the moment I am working on a school assignment to implement the ISO 28001 standard in a company.
The company is a distribution center for inbound, storage and outbound activities
Our customer use the companies expertise to store there products.
During my research about the ISO standard some questions came up.
The first question is about the definition “business partner”. The standard tells:
business partner: those contractors, suppliers or service providers that an organization contracts with to assist the organization in its function as an organization in the supply chain.
My first question is. Because the company takes control of the good at the inbound process and losses control after the outbound process I want to know if the customer that sends the products to us and the carrier that we select to send the products to the next step after our outbound process, are business partners of the company. The don’t help us with the main activities such as our IT service does. So do I also have too cover them?
My second and last question is about the scope. What is the scope of this company in the ISO 28001 standard. Do I have also have to check our customer and carrier or only the company.
If there are any questions about the text above, please ask me.
I hope that with your expertise you can help me to answer the questions.
Regards,
Ben van Gorp
