So long as it is within the date listed the certificate is still good. Yes, a majority of companies have transitioned to 2008. But if the registar is slow to issue the certificate then the company has no choice but to give you the 2000 certificate.
I know with my company we only recently obtained our certificate last week. I would just keep checking back with them to find out if and when they will obtain the 2008 certificate.
