I am attaching a sample of a process audit form that I spent way to much time on. I sure would LOVE some feedback form those of you out there that are doing the process audits (i.e. getting away from a checklist of the standard!).

Thanks for any input!

The form you submitted is basically compliant, but makes a primary mistake, in my opinion. It is a long complex subject, but I'll try to summarize. It is auditing whether the process is compliant to the standard, which is part of the equation. But it does little to evaluate how effective the process is.

But the purpose of audits is also to find where the process can be improved.
You are trying to improve your game, not just evaluate compliance.

Let me use an analogy. Tiger Woods and I go golfing in a Pro-AM tournament. The course referees check our clubs, balls, shoes, gear, and determine we are both compliant, we are both permitted onto the course. At that point, Tiger and I are equivalent golfers, we are both meeting the requirements. However, as soon as we start playing, the difference in the effectiveness of our process becomes immediately obvious.

A company that wants to get all the value from their ISO implementation has to dig for this if they want to get the full value.

Moderator's note:
I recognize "compliant" was meant, but "complaint" was written. This kind of thing can be very confusing to our Cove readers who have English as a second language.
