Hi
i am intern at a local company trying to implement ISO9001:2000. This company makes machined parts and i need to know for a first timer trying to get certified, do we need to do some kind of SPC. And if we need to do it under which clause shall it fit in. Any web sites which offer some info on imlementation of SPC

thanks a bunch

Hello John, and welcome to the Cove :bigwave:

As for ISO 9001:2000: There is no specific reqirement to use SPC as such, but you do have to monitor and measure your processes as well as your products (See clauses 8.2.3 & 8.2.4). SPC could be one of many good ways to meet those requirements in a way that also adds value to your organization. I also suggest a peek in ISO9004:2000, which provides more guidance.

SPC: First of all I suggest a look in the Coves SPC Monitoring and Statistical Analysis Tools forum. You may also be able to find something suitable by using the Search function.

Claus is right, there's no requirement for SPC in ISO9001. However, you can use SPC to cover the preventive action clause, providing you're acting on results.

Just a thought.
