Is QS-9000 Certification a requirement to do business within the Automotive Industry? Are other standards such as ISO-9001:2000 acceptable as an alternate to the QS-9000 standard by the Automotive Industry?
Thanks, MHughes

Hi Al...
Thanks for your reply!
I have another question: is ISO-9001:2000 acceptable or just ISO/TS16949 as an alternate???
Thanks, MHughes

Ditto,

ISO/TS-16949 plus customer specific requirements, which include AIAG manuals.

Ford - No
DC - Yes
GM - Yes

ISO/TS16949 is an acceptable alternative.

Yes QS 9000 is a requirement with GM and DC, as of now Ford only requires compliance, if you are Q1. If you are not Q1, you must become QS9000 certified before they will consider your company for the Q1 award, catch 22.
