Finished a 2-day surveillance audit yesterday. Auditor covered Top Management but only delved deep for purchasing activities and a few other items. CC never came up at all. At the closing meeting, I decided to bring it up, mainly out of curiosity to see how he had been covering this item. He didn't say much. I told him that we covered it in our Management Reviews, documenting that we'd determined that it is currently not relevant to our QMS or its processes and that none of our customer base or other interested parties had made it relevant to them or our relationship with them. He stated that this is the thing, that we are already determining everything we, or our interested parties, deem relevant, and he is of the mind that the revision to the clause was a foolish attempt at PC.

In general, auditors don't take more than 1 or 2 minutes on this issue....
Nevertheless, somewhere around the world, a few bureaucrats with some authority in the ISO and the IAF organizations must be feeling very happy and proud of “solving the CC” challenge, not realizing this amendment is useless, as I predicted in this very thread. Some people really like to pretend what they do is relevant. Pity the fool.
