ISO 9001:2015 Clause 5.1.2 Customer Focus (a)

I am looking for clarification to "customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements are determined, understood and consistently met" statement. I know what customer requirements are but, how do you prove the statutory/regulatory portions are met?

Are legal requirements for the product identified? Are the products designed with such requirements identified as inputs? Are compliance methods established? Who keeps track of applicable legal requirements for the products?

If there are no such requirements in place, then it is a no brainer.
