Usually we wait for the FDIS but IRCA is teaching the DIS to encourage its auditors to prepare to audit the work (and competence) of top management.

From the DIS here is the gist of a significant change for some or many QMSs:

Top management is to operate its quality management system (QMS). Top managers are required to engage in the most important QMS activities as opposed to simply ensuring that these activities occur. All references to the ?management representative? removed to embed quality management into routine business operations, rather than operating as a separate QMS with its own dedicated management structure.

Is ISO/TC176 trying to lead the way instead of reflecting what already is widely accepted as good practice?

The ISO TC 176 has just released a paper on the the subject of Risk in ISO 9001:2015.

They have also made available a draft of the ISO 9001:2015 Transition Planning Guidance. Both documents are available from http://isotc.iso.org/livelink/livelink?func=ll&objId=8835883&objAction=browse&viewType=1 (bottom of the page) and also attached to this post.

Thanks. I read the paper and I immediately thought: so what?

The paper says things like everyone considers risk intuitively, successful organizations intuitively take a risk-based approach, etc... The paper builds on the example of crossing a road to discuss risk-based thinking. The problem is: running a business is much more complex than a decision-making process of crossing a road.

Every day, employees of any organization perform hundreds or thousands of decisions. How are we expected to ensure that risk-based thinking is applied in each and every decision making? how are auditors (internal and external) supposed to assess if risk-based thinking is applied across the board? I suspect that the concept of risk-based thinking and it's enormous potential for subjectivity and range of interpretation can be the demise of ISO 9001. Unless, as possible, the requirement gets neglected like other requirements have been neglected in the past, such as the process approach to a QMS.

Maybe a revolt is coming....

Omnex also did a very good presentation on the changes thus far and were holding a session to get input from manufacturers and get it submitted in proper format. Apparently some thousand comments were submitted incorrectly so not considered.

I have deleted the post with the link, edited another post that referenced the link, and have deleted (just for clean-up purposes) the remaining posts.

Hopefully you mark all the e-mails as junk, and they will quit coming into your e-mail account.

Add edit... either that is a legitimate BSI link, and they need to be made aware of the SPAM issue; or is a false site/link, and BSI should still be notified of its existence.

There were a couple of moderators that registered at the site to test. Over a couple of weeks, there was no SPAM that was generated from registering at the site.

If one registers at a site and automatically starts receiving SPAM, it means either the organization gave away e-mail addresses from the registration process, or that there is something else going on at the computer. BSI is a premier company; however, if there is still a belief that BSI is responsible, the person should contact that organization.

Since there was no evidence during the test that SPAM was automatically generated after registering at the site, and given the value of the information at the link, the post with the link has been reinstated.

Can you help us with why you think the change is " so hard" and what policy you are referencing?

well, the first time I went there and registered. There was no confirmation email ever received and spam followed. Today, I registered again (after seeing your post) and registration went smoothly as it should and no problems. But that is not what happened the other day!!! Weird!!!
