For clarification - are you looking to see what is the purpose of the internal quality auditing and requirements or are you looking for what does the internal auditing will look for in the shipping department?

Re: Audit requirement for maintenance department

To start, the standard simply requires that you determine, provide, and maintain the infrastructure.

There is no requirement for maintenance records unless you as a company determine that you want them, and most companies do.

Start by finding any procedures you may have about maintenance and see what records you require. That's what you audit to.

Typically, a company determines what maintenance is needed, possibly using equipment manufacturers recommendations or from their own experience with the equipment, and work up a maintenance schedule. Next, a maintenance log is usually developed for each of those pieces of equipment. Please note that it is up to you as a company to determine what equipment requires scheduled maintenance and what that schedule should be. If there are schedules and logs, that is what you audit to.

Currently we have scheduled maintenance records (such as maintenance form) which is proposed by our External auditor from Llyod Register

San,

First, determine the facilities and equipment that are vital to each of the processes in your process-based management system.

Do this with the owner of your process for "maintaining facilities and equipment".

Then capture the objective of this process, who is involved and what is done to ensure the facilities and equipment continue effectively to work as intended.

Change the form given to you by your CB to support the maintenance process you actually have.
