Re: ISO offers free-of-charge ISO 9001:2000 'auditing kit'

Hmmm, I must admit to being somewhat underwhelmed by the content of this guidance note
Many of the papers in this series leave a lot to be desired, in terms of clarity, in my opinion. Obviously, the TC176 participants have to be very careful with "suggestions" on the conformity assessment practices. However, such papers could easily be transferred to the IAF Informative Documents and provided a little bit more authoritativeness. If you are going to "provide guidance", commit yourself to delivering practical, actionable advice.

Hmmm. the one entitled "How to deal with consultants" (my emphasis) is an interesting and potentially controversial one...:notme:

Why controversial? That "guidance" has been tribal knowledge in the certification community for over 10 years. Worthy consultants know their role during an audit and "abide" by it.

If you had been a consultant, Sidney, you'd understand the context of being 'dealt with'...and since the guidance is written by CB representatives, it speaks volumes (to me) of an unfortunate attitude towards consultants...or maybe it's just an English/British language thing.:notme::rolleyes:

I must admit Andy that I have very few problems with the consultants I come into contact with during certification audits. I tend to see the same ones quite often so perhaps that helps in that we learn each others methods and expectations.

In fact, I have more problems when they attend training courses which I am running - particularly when they try to take over the presentation!

Really? Can't imagine why that might be a problem!

Too funny! One of my friends and colleagues from my Excel Partnership days, Joe DeCarlo can tell you a few stories about the CB auditors who would interject when auditing his training course delivery (Excel Partnership was ISO 9001 registered)...:notme:

*** DEAD LINK REMOVED ***

ISO offers free-of-charge ISO 9001:2000 'auditing kit'
Twenty guidance modules on specific aspects of auditing ISO 9001:2000 quality management systems (QMS) are available free of charge from ISO and another three are being developed. <snip>
The information has been very helpful to me and I just think it would be helpful to so many others now. The committee keeps adding more guidelines all the time so the link continues to offer up to date and valuable material.

Thank you,
Rob
