Hello all. I'm new to this forum and happy I found it. I am a QAS with a large government organization and I need to develop a new ISO 9001:2000 based audit schedule to incorporate our 4 major suppliers/contractors. I am limited to creating one from EXCEL, or ACCESS instead of using commercial software due to IT issues. Our contractors are very large so a comprehensive audit is out of the question. We can only audit in chunks so we've divided the the audits up by ISO paragraph. I have 18 months to rotate and complete all sections then start all over. We also audit as needed, but thats another story. What I need is a good example of a schedule in either EXCEL or ACCESS. Can any one out there assist? Thanks.

Welcome to the Cove !!

Check the bottom of the page, there are similar threads that may help. Also on the top of the page, there is a green button - POST ATTACHMENT LIST, you´ll find all attachments to all posts here on the forum.

P.S. You should be referring to ISO 9001:2008 and not 2000 which is obsolete.

Let me see...you four (4) contractors and you want each of them auidted against ISO9001 by paragraph. Is that correct?

Now...How many auditors do you have and how many parts you divided ISO into?

Let me know and I may be able to help you with some ideas...

Understanding to some degree your position, while auditing to the ISO standard itself may seem practical, it may not necessarily be the most beneficial way to audit your customers as related to your organization. Focus on their processes and how they relate to your product, or whatever you are procuring from them. They may have a system in place that is compliant to the standard but what you need to determine is how that system applies to your product, that's the most important thing. Processes, not elements - :2cents:

We do audit their processes. We audit the following: Product, Process, and Quality Management System. I'm covering the entire contractors quality system and evaluating compliance with approved contractual standard. Which, in this case, is ISO 9001:2000. What I'm tasked with doing, over and above routine process audits, is customer QMS audits, verifying that the QMS system in place, is contractual, functional, and meets all regulatory standards. i.e., If I do an audit on the contractors Quality System (which is set up to mirror the ISO standard) section 4.2.4- Control of Records- I'm into literaly hundreds of processes, so I usually focus that even further to say, Weld and Fabrication Process records keeping, or Test Records, etc, but I need to touch each portion of their QMS at least once every 18 months. And I have 4 contractors to do that with in 4 geographic locations with 5 different major contracts. Quite a challenge. Currently I'm developing the schedule in EXCEL, linking it to the database in ACCESS, which is where our audit packages are generated, then ensuring that that ACCESS database talks to another ACCESS datbase to ensure it pops up on the schedule, then ensuring all activity is documented in yet another, Oracle based system for accomplishment and Corrective Actions documentation and tracking.
Fun times.

I was just looking to see if there was a predeveloped EXCEL or ACCESS product out there so I can try to simplify things a tad. Thanks for trying though. I am reading through this forum gathering as many ideas as I can use.

Really? Is the contract one of very longstanding?
Because the 2000 version is obsolete and withdrawn. It was replaced by the 2008 version. Although it shouldn't make a large difference, as no new requirements were introduced.

Mind you, if the contractors are forced by the contract into setting up their QMS to 'mirror the ISO standard'... I feel for them. While it may facilitate a certain type of auditing, a QMS mirroring the Standard is not the ideal.
