We did it first try, but it took us a whole year to get ready.

These are results from Portugal. Although this is happening almost everywhere.
Back in the beginning of the 90’s, it was hard to find an organization that got registered in the first audit. Even considering that at the time companies that were trying to be registered were almost the large multinational organizations that were here.
At the time I was working at a German company and we had a second audit just because of 6 or 7 minor NC.

Now I really don’t know of any company that has to be submitted to a second audit. Even having some Major NC...
Now registration is each time more just a business...:(

I guess that depends on what the first audit is that you refer to. Are you saying you had Stage 1 and then during Stage 2 there was a major non-conformance? Then there would be a second audit.

Strange one, voted as second time, passed ISO9001:1994 - 1st audit, however when changing to ISO9001:2000 - had a NCR - reason had not been on a one day awareness course for ISO9001:2000 - had no system failures!!!!:mg:

Huh? where does it say in the standard that you have to go to a one day awareness course?

We just finished our registration audits. My company has three manufacturing locations and I asked for independent certification audits. Two of them passed with zero nonconformity and the third one had one minor. We selected BSI and our auditor (client manager) is the most knowledgable and BEST in the world. (sorry Randy...No offense;). You are great) The audit was very very tough and our auditors challenged the effectiveness of each process. I learned a great deal and have a new education plan. Management Rep's education never ends...
The spirit of continual improvement resonates throughout our organization. We are all motivated to do more....

A little background check on the auditor goes a long way...
