I have been promoted as Quality Manager recently. My company is planning to get ISO Certification. They are even planning to hire consultant from icireland.ie. Every thing is planned but still I'm worried because I don't want my boss to:mad:.Do I need to take care of somepoints. What all things I have to worry about.

Hello,

if you have a good consultant, he shall take care of the most critical points, your job must be to take care and learn, so that you can do the job later. And you must take care that the system will fit your company needs. If you as the Quality Manager are stand for this system and believe in it, your colleagues will follow it and fill it with live.

Considering that Section 8.3 of the Standard refers only to the control of nonconforming product and not general non conformities, does anyone write in the Procedure identification, control and treatment of other types of non conformities, such as objectives of processes that have been achieved?

Welcome to the cove, correct, 8.3 is only non conforming product, your procedures for material review board, handling of non conforming material and customer returns is what 8.3 is about. yes, is the answer to the later, indentification, should be mentioned in your procedure for 7.5, all elements will have procedure with area's where not met product a non conforance.

I am not clear why you would want to put other nonconformities into cl 8.3. It was written specifically for control NC product. Other clauses may fit your application better - 8.2.3, 8.2.4, 8.4, 8.5.2, 8.5.3.

I know perfectly well that the procedure in question is only for nonconforming product, but this is a way to use this same procedure to something larger than just the product control.
This procedure is known as "Control of nonconforming product," but in my QMS I call it as "Control of nonconformance."
If we don't treat all the nonconformances in this procedure, the only way we have to write something about them in the system is in the Quality Manual..., or to create another new procedure to explain what shoul be done when an objective is not met.

This is a great platform to get the know-how and apply it in your organization without having to constantly overpay your consultant. It has been a great help to me!

We got it first time around, took 18 months.

Like previous posts it is a broad spectrum when you ask for certification advice.

However what I did notice (which was pointed out to me by our Registrar Body) You quote ISO 9001:2000... trust me chnage this to ISO 9001:2008.

Phone your regisrar Body and order the ISO 9001:2008 Memory Jogger, its a purple spiral bound booK I unfortunately discovered way too late. Trust me. It will be worth it. It explains the Standard in detail and tells you what the difference between 9001:2000 & 9001:2008 is.
