There was a little talk of addressing those other standards, but Scott Paton (the guy who runs Paton Professional) decided the markets weren't large enough. Specifically I wanted to do one on ISO 14001.

I'll keep you posted on the problem solving project. I'm hoping to do some work on it today. It looks like a rainy day in Georgia...

I wish I could say that here in California. We are going to reach Temperatures upward to 113F.

As for the publishers thought, I can see their point, and I may not agree with their thought. For example: I like to use a specific Registrar to perform Registrations for the Company's that I worked for. I suggested to the President of the Registrar, that they consider getting accreditation to AS9100 (this was over four years ago). Just recently (last month), I talked with the President of the Registrar (who also I consider a friend from a Business and somewhat personal)...and guess what... their client base was asking if they could register their company to AS9100, but since they weren't accredited, they had to say no at that time. The Registrar is now going through the accreditation process for AS9100.

Added for clarification: The thought of the President was that there is no demand at this time to seek out accreditation to AS9100.

This is just an true example of why sometimes I don't agree with Publishers (Service companies). They are looking at the initial impact and your needs, but seem to lack the foresight on what is currently going on.

True enough that there isnt much changes to the ISO 9001:2008 that may warrant Craig to make any significant changes to his book. Perhaps, let look into the chapter / clause on 6.3 (c) supporting services (such as transport, communication or information systems).

If only Craig has also briefly illustrate the manitenance of supporting services which now inckuded information systems (ICT)...I am sure he must have done it since he have seen the DIS ISO 9001 before he printed this book. Good luck!

I'm proud to report that I did illustrate infrastructure in pretty good detail (...at least I think I did). Very good suggestion. Another area I tried to address is competency and the need to "ensure that the necessary competence has been achieved," which I believe is quite different from simply "Verifying the effectiveness of training." Everywhere that I saw the potential for a difference in interpretation, I tried to illustrate what that interpretation would mean in practical terms. Thanks for your kind words, by the way.

I've attached a change summary of ISO 9001:2008 (or whatever it will be called), for everybody's reference.

I was refering to the book that the excert was from, I have the current standard which our certification company has assured us is the one that will still be in affect at the time of our audit. I was looking to see if Craig Cochran's book was avalible in Australia.

The books is not available in stores in Australia, but it certainly can shipped there by Paton Professional. The problem would be the high shipping charges. You might want to call Christel Whetstone in the Paton Professional office and see if they would ship it via "US Postal Service - Global Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope," which is only around $10 or so. That's how I would do it. Christel can be reached at 530-342-5480 or [email protected]. I'll also drop her a line and see if this can be done. I wish they offered an e-book that could be sold anywhere, but that's not available quite yet. Thanks for your interest in the book, mate!

I can't take credit for the summary of ISO 9001:2008 changes. I believe it was created by Lori Hunt, who is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO Technical Committee 176. The author is not shown and there's no copyright on it, though.
