ISO 9001 QMS Documentation Style/Model

Hi all ISO9001 QMS Expert:

what is the better Style/Model to design the QMS document hierarchy (hierarchical menus) in computer? Just as like the attached picture, would you like help me to optimize it for document achieving on a local disk according to ISO9001:2008?

Hi,

I prefer to keep the structure simple and, that way, you're less likely to cause navigational problems for users, or to break any hyperlinks. At the top level you can set up folders for Manual; Procedures, Work instructions, Internal Audits, Surveillance audits; Management Review etc. You may then need to set up sub-folders e.g. calander year for audits.

No, forget about the ISO 9001 hierarchy. Organize your documentation based on the processes they support!

For example: When I work in purchasing, all I want to do is click on "Purchasing" and voila! here are all the documents I need.

I wouldn't structure anything on the clauses of the standard! Do it by your organization's processes.

We placed everything in one library on SharePoint. Each process carries the main clause number, i.e.; PDC-423-001 is our process re: document control. The drawback is some processes cover two or more clauses. Each process lists it's relevant forms and associated documents for ease of tracing interrelatedness. This is where our Quality Manual really comes into play. It lists each process, a brief description of each process and who is the owner. This method has worked for me in two other companies that gained 3rd party certification. Working on the 3rd company now.
