Hi all!

I'm glad I've found this site who can help me regarding ISO 9001:2008, we already started but we have lots of questions in mind that we need to clarify in order for us to implement it properly.

>Is it necessary that all forms must have working procedure, work flows and documentation(with codes and reference)?

>Do we need to fill up the QMS Manual that they gave us, or it is only a guideline for us?

thank you very much...

Re: ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System for Aspire Printing Press

Hi,
welcome on the Forum.
As to your first question, the way to proceed shall be inserted in the mandatory document control procedure and record control procedure as per ISO 9001. The clauses are 4.2.3 and 4.2.4.
In my opinion the fill up of the forms are self explaining , so there could be no need for working instruction, but it is up to you as an organization based upon its expereince and maturity.
Codes and reference are useful for traceability, so take care of them.
As to the second question, you shall prepare a Quality manual for your QMS if you want to be certified vs ISO 9001. It is mandatory.
Hope this helps:bigwave:

Thank you so much for your prompt reply... QMS Manual already been provided by the ISO auditor and this is what we are reviewing right now... Do we need to make a new Quality Manual?

Referring to my first question: All forms have been finished and we just want to know if its necessarily to have its own working procedures?

Responses:
Quality Manual: It is a document peculiar to each organization, you shall write describing your Quality Management System , with the processes that you have identified and related interactions. The manual and mandatory procedures shall be prepared by the organization in multidisciplinary approach, otherwise there is only a burden of documents.

Forms: As I said before, it is up to you, based upon what you declare in mandatory document control procedure.

However, it is not clear to me the sentence " QMS provided by ISO auditor..."
Probably you wanted to say " consultant" and not "ISO auditor", this is my guess:bigwave:

All your forms should be linked in some way to a process or procedure, otherwise there will be no reason for them to be completed. I'm not sure what you mean by codes and reference...please explain.

Have you been given a template Quality Manual with spaces for you to enter your organization's information? Is this what you mean by 'fill up' the manual? If so, you might want to take a look at some others. A manual must reflect the organization's approach to quality, not some template which can have anyone's names etc inserted.

I was involved in ISO implementation for 6 printing companies. (I am a pressman by trade)

The easiest way to manage forms is to consider them a procedure in themselves. A well built form is self-explanatory and the standard does not demand that they be accompanied by a procedure, although they should be referenced somewhere in your manual.

Remember to keep it simple, when your consultant makes a suggestion ask why and demand an answer based on the standard's requirements. Beware of canned manuals.

Always ask yourself if there is added value in what you are doing. Do not document anything that is not required by the standard or does not add value to your process.

Remember to goal is to make your company more efficient at managing not only quality but the business in general.

Use the KISS method as well as employee participation accompanied by a lot of common sense and you will have a great system..

This is a good point. However, often people are so new to the subject that they do not know what to ask - it is therefore good to have some basic training to start of.

I fully agree Harry, as long as the training is done by someone independent from the consultant.

Through training you somewhat gain a a third party opinion, in situations like this it is always a positive .

I gives one the capacity to challenge the consultant and hey, it's good for the consultant too!
