Perhaps there are lack luster (by auditors or even unaccredited CBs) certifications, where customers have to audit their certified suppliers. There are plenty of organizations who justify why "ISO says" they have to audit suppliers, too, and have incorporated it in their procedures - which, of course they must comply with themselves to maintain a certificate!

I'd prefer to see more data before I jumped to an assumption that certification wasn't beneficial and have some of the attendant issues surfaced and dealt with.

I don't want to take this off topic, so in that respect I think that (A) if the standard is, as it claims, suitable for all types of organizations and (B) there is value in certification beyond simply honoring customer requirements for it, I don't see why those things wouldn't hold true for a soccer club. Note that I personally don't necessarily agree with either (A) or (B), but that's not the topic here.

Boca Juniors was Diego Maradona´s last team in Argentina...

They have :

3 world champion titles (match played against the UEFA Champion)...1977, 2000, 2003

6 Copa Libertadores titles (equivalent to UEFA Champions League).. 1977, 1978, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2007

I´d say that´s enough titles/info to be a famous team...

It could be a good study, because I found some aspect that I had suggested in my previous post.

Internacional (Brazilian team) is also ISO 9001 certified :

The scope of certification is towards reception and needs of the fans at their stadium...

I started from this rational according to the last econimical issue and financial disasters ( such as financial doping and so on) that also involved lot of soccer clubs. This fact has surely carried to a certain disaffection from the fans of soccer from general standpoint.
The objective is not to loose credibility and trust and in this sense , by complying to a well known standard suche as ISO 9001 , the soccer clubs could catch the opportunity by means of good practices of management as well as communicate this value .
Implementing a QMS could be a means to pursue excellence and it could be a merit and value added to improve related processes.
I understand that it is very difficult to immagine a " commercial arena" for a soccer club , which has other types of competitions.
The link I see for ISO 9001 certification and a soccer clubs world could rather resides in a choice of values.
In fact I believe that the 8 Quality Management principle could also be coherent with the peculiar value of the sports world, and also soccer's one.
I refer to Involvement of people, Leadership , Continual improvement ; Transparence and so on : I see communality here.
SO the advantage of a certification could be searched in awareness of the its value, embracing it as a method of improvement and success.
The above "values" could be witnessed to the public by means of a "certified" management system of a soccer club organization.

I have known that also a Mexican soccer team was certified vs ISO 9001 in 2003.
The name of the team is Monarcas Morella.
Hope we can find something useful from quality systems documentation standpoint.
If someone knows more, pls help.
