ISO software: Valuable during ISO 9001 implementation?

Pretty interesting to know their decision, but could I allow me? Can I ask you what did you do about it? did you present them something? had you some meeting to argue about this one or this one?

Sorry for the late response. We decided to hold off on the purchase of an ISO software. That's the recommendation I made to my management. We agreed it would be too risky to implement both the QMS and a software at the same time (a LOT in term of change management). Plus, I was not entirely convinced about the benefits of an ISO software during the implementation phase.
While researching the topic, I came across some interesting products. We may get back to it later and reconsider it once we have our QMS in place. By then, we will know our needs better. Also, the softwares are quite expensive so that's a way to spread out costs.

I am glad to have your feed back about such process. That's really interesting for me, engaging just a QMS in this new company.

So, it seems we weren't really far in our advices. I think you decided well if I can allow me.

So you are starting to implement?

In my case, I am setting a strong and, I hope, efficient database for our projects. Then I will develop an other QA database, more for me, to be organize and have a good monitoring about the QA development. Simply Ms Access.

It's hard to manage documents with access but play with their paths and folders Group them by categories or processes. Record the different internal / external Audits. Manage the different templates (forms, instructions, manual, etc..).:read:

This will allow me to master (I hope) the distribution of the templates (latest version), have a digital record to play with statistics (I have got no notion about it but I hope here could find out some stuff!)

I am thinking to keep the statistics related to our products QA controls and give them a chance to improve us.

As you said, this forum could be a very strong information base.

Also If you thought develop one yourself, we can share our QA interests, you have got your QA needs, mine, melting this in a simple access database that I could develop and we will have maybe a easy personal QA management system (very simple and easy to use and just keep us organise.) ;-)

First off, I want to disclose that I do work for a company that manufactures quality management software, The Harrington Group. Based on customer feedback quality management software is more of a tool that will help streamline the specific quality processes, basically reducing the amount of time it takes, from when you open a record to when it is closed. Implementing a quality management software, i would say, would help speed up the process of getting your certification, because you would have most, if not, all of the processes and the system laid out and all you would have to do then is input data, instead of having to establish what kind of processes you want to take using, lets say a paper based system and the managing the data with paper, which can be cumbersome. You had made mention that you wouldnt want just a canned qms, virtually all of our customers feel the same way and they do certain things that are unique to them, and we work with them to basically mold the system to how they want it. Quality management software, is a tool to make your life easier, and it ultimatly saves the company money (based on customer feedback) because it saves time most of all. If you would like, i would be more than happy to talk with you further about some of the solutions we offer and how they could benefit you.
