Dear Randy
Thanx for your reply but this does not seem to be true. I am more convinced by the answer given by jelly earlier. Each surveillance audit will be for 1 day only.
Total mandays for surveillance audits=initial audit mandays
Therefore each surv audit will be for 3/5=0.6~1 manday.
This is my perception only. correct me if i am not correct.

It states in IATF Rules the following:
m) the total number of surveillance audit days in the first, second and third year (dependent on the agreed interval see table 5.1) of any three year audit cycle shall be equal to the number of initial audit days in the calculation illustrated in table 5.2. There shall be at least one surveillance audit per year,
So, what that is saying is that annually, you will be audited using the number of man-days in table 5.2 relevant to your organization. It is not saying to find the number of employees on the table and use that number for a total number of audit days in a three year period. It is saying that you must be audited at least once per year, to the number of audit days appropriate to your organization, from table 5.2.
In your case, you find that you will have to be audited for 3 man days. That means that, annually, you will have to undergo 3 days of auditing. If you choose to break that audit up to have two 6 month audits, then each audit can be 1.5 days or whatever you and your registrar deem appropriate, but you will still have to be audited at least 3 days for that year. You would satisfy year 2 the same way. The fact that you break it up to 6 month increments won’t change your yearly amount of man-days needed, just you don’t have to go through them all at once. Some prefer shorter visits by their registrars, some prefer to have it done all at once. Regardless of how it’s broken up, you still have an annual requirement that has to be met. Your registrar will be able to tell you exactly how many days.
Also keep in mind that the number of man-days is a minimum requirement. There may be a time where your audit is a bit longer. I would strongly encourage you to obtain a copy of the IATF rules.
I hope this helps.
Randy
