Re: ISO/TS 16949:2009 Operating Procedures

Does anyone have a template for the ISO/TS 16949 Standard Operating Procedures? I am trying to create the operating procedures and do not know what areas I should leave in or out? Also, is there some specific order that the procedures must be presented in. Thank you.
You are probably asking for the wrong things. ISO/TS 16949 doesn't require 'Standard Operating Procedures'. If you are trying to draw up a set of procedures to meet ISO/TS 16949, then, apart from the so called 'required' procedures (7 of them) all other requirements are supposed to come from your organization. A 'template of ISO/TS procedures' will be of little use to you. In many cases they will not help you much beyond an idea of how to document a quality system, which appears to be what you're asking. Search through the Post Attachments list (green 'button', top of the website) and you'll see what others here have done.

From your questions, it seems to me as if you don't have a copy of the standard.. do you? The specific order you have to present your qms is 'the sequnce and interactions of the processes of the quality management system', which is to say - the way your organization runs! Only your management can define that, no-one else's template will be exact!

Please be careful of 'silver bullets' as a way to get to ISO/TS certification. You will end up with a monster....do you want to have to feed it?

Isabel,

ISO/TS requirements did not change.
Only the "boxed text" (ISO 9001:2008).

Stijloor.
I agree that the requirements have not been changed but some text is changed, not only in the ISO9001 but also in the TS text like:
( again, as was the case in ISO 9001:2008 very minor changes )

- 4.2.4.1 : added " statutory "
- 5.5.1.1 : "product quality" has changed (twice) into "conformity to product requirements"
- 6.2.2.2 : idem
- 7.4.1.1 : added " statutory "
- 7.4.3.1 : "product quality" has changed (twice) into .....
- 7.5.1.2 : idem
- 8.5.1.1 : removed the link to examples in ISO 9004

Best regards,

Antoine

Call me crazy (or paranoid) but I am in the middle of a side-by-side comparison of the Second and Third Editions. I don't want ANY changes to surprise me later.

I will post my summary when I am complete.

First thing I've noticed is in section 2 of the standard:
ISO 9000 has become "indispensable to the application of this document."
Does this mean that I am going to get in trouble with my auditor if I don't have a copy of ISO 9000?

Nah, it just means that no-one knew (in general) or ignored what a 'Normative Reference' was.....If they didn't ask you before, there's no (good) reason to, now.....

I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we would ALL like a good, comprehensive analysis of the changes and potential pitfalls.

Just received my copy today and was hoping to find the first change matrix up.
No biggie... I've still got 4 weeks til the audit.

I''l put my :2cents: in when the time comes.
Thanks, guys, for all you do!
