Informational ISO/TS 9002 - Guidelines for the application of ISO 9001:2015

As mentioned by Paul Simpson last year, the ISO TC 176 SC 2 started working on a Guidance document for ISO 9001:2015, the ISO/TS 9002.

Based on ISO TC 176 past performance on the development of Guidance Standards, I am not very hopeful that this document will be able to, in a pragmatic way, guide people implementing the 5[sup]th[/sup] Edition of ISO 9001 and, as importantly, the people responsible for assessing conformance of systems to ISO 9001:2015. But I would love to be proven wrong.

What does the "NP" in ISO/NP TS 9002 stand for ?

The latest position is that the National Standards Bodies (NSB) aren't warming to TS 9002. A lot of NSBs, when surveyed, indicated they weren't over keen on the current draft and that it is unlikely it will be adopted as a national standard.

Ooohh, Sidney. Such cynicism in one so young. There is a good point here, though. If TS 9002 were to become a good document in guiding users on how to implement a quality management system it could be used as a reference in discussing conformity assessment. WG 23 could usefully trawl round here and pick up on some of the debates and provide 'answers' that give definitive interpretations. Picking some old favourites: quality policy signed or not?; where are documented procedures required?; do all gauges (gages) require calibration; etc. ad infinitum.

Are there other ISO Technical Specifications that comprise guidelines instead of requirements?

...or is there a plan to make TS 9002 normative to ISO 9001:2015 rather like ISO 9000 was with regard to interpreting ISO 9001:2008?

I want to know if we can safely ignore it or not.

I doubt very much that ISO/TS 9002 would be a normative reference and wonder why they don't do it like in ISO 14001 which has guidance text as an Appendix.

As for ISO 9000:2015, since the news that the TC 176 SC2 decided to remove the definitions from the text of ISO 9001, I am sure that ISO 9000 will continue to be a Normative Standard.

Dear All,
how are folks capturing the risk management element. We have process maps ( full dept interaction type), ins/outs etc and think the risk elements need to be captured within our process mapping. This then follows through to activities that take place within each area. what do people think, should they be located here or as activities within the process itself. Do these risk actions need to be captured by this means at all for 2015 if we can show we do them and actions result from the outcome. So my question is where does the risk management elements sit to capture it, at the mapping stage to identify it as part of the process or at a dept level from a work instruction or such like. In the end its what the business does so that should be enough if we do it but then how to show the auditor these outcomes from the activity. If it is an activity then it needs to be captured within the process, thoughts please

In addition to the ISO TS 9002, the TC 176 is also balloting another ISO 9000 book for Small and Medium Enterprises.

According to this information, ISO TS 9002 is being published, as it is in stage 60.00. A 46-page long document, priced at 158 swiss francs.

Let's hope this document helps in the collective understanding of so many controversial aspects of 9001:2015, such as context of the organization, risk based thinking, etc...
