I very much doubt it. I think it was just another fly-by and stir the pot as he went... some people get a kick out of that kind of joke. Much better to ignore it.

NB: to 'stir the pot' is an idiomatic expression used here (Australia) to mean create (stir up) trouble'.

Yes but if it is not a complete joke, they will be planning it in 2014 and issuing the standard in 2016 after completing all the formalities.

I think ISO 9000 since 2000 is too high tech for the majority of people out there doing manufacturing.

The people it could help the most don't really want it.

This is just a statement of presumably your personal opinion, without a shred of data to support it.

For what it's worth, I disagree with it entirely. My experience is very, very different.

It's a tool, nothing more and nothing less and as such is not "Murphy proof" can be mis-used. What you said is basically the same as saying that a CNC is too high tech for most machinists out there to understand whereas I've found that many modern machinists can't used a barrel micrometer because they are used to the digital ones now.

Some jokes are also difficult to understand. I mean there is always an intent or an attitude to read between the lines. Some lines meet somewhere. Attitude!

BTW, Amanbhai : are you extrapolating the forecast

1987---1994---2000---2008---2014/15/16 ....?

2013, with 2008 as an outlier?

Or will it meet a life cycle process?

Randy professes "It's [ISO 9001:xxxx] is a tool" is right. And being a result of a meticulous joint effort of involved authors (called Technical Committee (TC 176)), it remains only o blame the system. -of writing it or understanding it?

They are making it better for 2014 to take the money out of companies pockets' who blindly believe in the 'benefits' of the standard. Sheep everywhere.. Does anyone have facts about the money that is used in the sertification processes around the world? Asking only out of curiosity.
