'iso guru' is a trade mark owned by ISOguru, Inc., therefore, you are advised to drop any reference to ' ISO guru' for all your business material and website. Please confirm compliance ASAP. Thanks.

I really dislike people who make unfounded threats like this. Apparently he didn't even research to see if I was in some way using "ISOGuru" or "ISO Guru".

Personally, I wouldn't trust them (him?). He didn't even know enough to put in an appropriate subject in his e-mail to me. Not to mention he's using a Yahoo e-mail address. What's with that?

File this under "Kooks to ignore"

This guy himself is in violation of "claims" by ISO in Switzerland about the use of "ISO" without permission in commercial advertising.

His claim is indefensible. Odds are he doesn't have the werewithal to file a lawsuit and he would have a difficult time, indeed, defending against a counterclaim of malicious barratry

barratry = The offense of persistently instigating lawsuits, typically groundless ones.

Interesting to find this at the isoguru.com web site:

Indeed. I have been around here for several years, and have never seen Marc use either expression to promote business material or website, so I really don't know what this guy is on about.

As it happens a search for "ISO Guru" produced 389 hits. If his intention is to take on all of them he will have his work cut out for him. "ISO Guru" and "vinod kumar" on the other hand, produced no hits at all.

Finally, "ISO Guru" is a widely used expression, trade mark or not.

OK, who is going to report this yo-yo to the real ISO? I will if you like. He is the one hijacking a trademark, and, frankly, the sooner someone like this gets slapped down, and the harder they get slapped down, the better. What a jerk.

I surfed by the iso1stop.com forum recently (has always been pretty dead there) and noticed that they had to change to quality1stop after threats from ISO themselves about trademarks. It is now quality1stop.com.

I hastily typed up a reply to the idjit, complete with references to ISO's trademark defenses. I've attached it; use it and/or edit it as you see fit, or not.
