We use a process for cleaning Peek Optima using Isopropyl Alcohol. How does one test the alcohol to know when to replace the alcohol?

Thanks Wes,

However Invibio does not tell you how to controll your processes for cleaning Peek Optima. That's the kind of information I'm looking for. How clean is the alcohold I'm using? That's what I'm looking for.

Really!? Who did you talk to at Invibio? Did you actually talk to someone or just look at the website?

What is the next step in your process after cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (what strength are you using?) What is the end use of this product? If this is a sterilization step, it is inadequate. If it is an intermediate step, then the nature of the next step will dictate the degree of cleanliness required of your cleaning solution.

Here is their [invibio] USA contact info, including a toll free phone number. Ask to speak to the highest ranking person on the premises. If he/she can't help, ask for a direct referral to their UK facility by name, title, email and phone extension.

My opinion:

Don't test for cleanliness / purity in production. Instead, validate a number of uses after which the IPA is discarded (preferably recycled). If practical, use only once and that's it. Make sure that your supplier guarantees the required cleanliness / purity in the first place.

Lab methods will vary depending on your concerns - checking for particulate matter is not the same as checking chemical purity.

Cheers,
Ronen.

Ronen, thanks for the input. That's probably a good idea to validate the process after so many pieces have run through the isopropyl alcohol and replace when it reaches that quantity.
