So it's Friday.
Does that mean you declare it P.O.E.T.S. Day?*
When you have a job bringing in a steady paycheck, it may be OK to declare Fridays as P.O.E.T.S. Day. When you are trying to land a job, you may not be able to schedule interviews because all the interviewers are observing P.O.E.T.S. Day, but that doesn't mean you can't do your research and send out letters, emails, and applications to be sitting on someone's desk Monday morning.
The key is to work efficiently and not slack off just because the weekend is approaching. When Saturday does actually arrive, that's soon enough to devote some time to family and household chores. Friday may be the day you catch a Chatty Cathy receptionist who will give you lots of information because she's bored and lonely since everyone who could duck out is already celebrating P.O.E.T.S. Day. It may be the day you cold call and catch the guy who needs you and can't celebrate P.O.E.T.S. Day because he's hip deep in alligators only you can tame.
Friday is the day you demonstrate you are an eager go-getter who doesn't slack off like a bunch of drones working dead-end jobs.
So - resolve to put in a full day doing something to land that job, even if it's only re-reading our premier job threads for some ideas on making your job hunt more efficient and effective.
*P.O.E.T.S. = Punch out early, tomorrow's Saturday.
