Moisture Sensitive Device

Hi everibody.

We are quite new about MSD.
Now we have a procedure, but we don't know the moisture level of device we have in our warehouse.

Does exist a list, more complete than the one in J-STD-033 last pages?
Do you know if is possible to say a device is MS or not, only by its packaging?

Thans in advance.

If the MSL level is not addressed, should it be considered as MSL1? If not then what MSL level will apply?

The manufacturer of each device determines the MSL. The original packaging should say what MSL to use. If you don't have the packaging, check mfg's the spec sheet or website. Ceramic parts are usually MSL 1, PCBs are usually 3-6 depending on the material, many non-ceramic ICs are 3, but some are higher numbers. Typical SMT capacitors, diodes, and resistors are usually MSL 1.
