Job Descriptions - Multiple Designation of Single Personnel

Dear friends,

I am preparing Job Descriptions for our Lab, a problem is that our GM also working as Quality manager. Should I prepare a single JD for both designations or Different JDs should be prepared for both positions. Looking forward

Look at the job requirement when you are making the JD, not the person.

Exactly, a person can wear a few hats - especially in small or newly set up organizations or even those big ones undergoing shake-ups during the down turn or reorganization.

If the person is holding two positions or say responsible for two jobs, then two separate job descriptions would be a better option. In the responsibility column, you can put the same name for both the job titles (or multiple as the case may be). e.g.

Lab Incharge - Mr. X
Quality Manager - Mr. X

If the person is holding two positions or say responsible for two jobs, then two separate job descriptions would be a better option. In the responsibility column, you can put the same name for both the job titles (or multiple as the case may be). e.g.

Lab Incharge - Mr. X
Quality Manager - Mr. X
I agree. You're describing the job duties, not the person performing the duties.
