Partnership with production and other service departments with the same goal in mind. Manufacturing processes are well understood and where possible, failure modes are engineered out with a zero PPM mentality. Roles and Responsibilities
- Product and customer requirements expert
- Liaison between SJI facilities and customer (voice of customer and voice of SJI)
- Ownership of their customer opinion and perception of SJI
- Frequent proactive customer visits. Identifying potential concerns before coming to fruition. Domestic and international travel possibility (less than 5%)
- Development, prelaunch, and production activities at customer’s facility such as validating success of new and ongoing production product
- Gaging and communicating verbal/ non-verbal customer satisfaction-both product and service
- Assist customer in disposition of suspect or nonconforming product
- First responder (single point of contact) for internal and customer quality concerns and/or feedback
- Includes Problem Solving, 8-d, 5-Why, Drill Deep & Wide, PDCA, etc
- Issuing and tracking return authorizations for both proactive and reactive returns
- Coordinate internal and 3rd party containment requirements, as required
- Coordinate with plant requirements for PPAPs and completion of other required documentation
- Customer deviation and process change documentation submission and approval
- Monitoring customer feedback (IE: Scorecards) and drive improvements
- Monitor SPC related to their products. Drive dim. capability continuous improvement
- Gap analysis against OEM required audits (CQI-9, CQI-15, CQI-27, PFMEA and CP audits, etc)
- Proactive assessment of possible failure modes (PFMEA) within the process and develop creative/technological ways to mitigate the risk (engineer out if possible).
- Communicate success stories to other Quality Engineers and implement improvements across other processes/customers/platforms
- Evaluate effectiveness of quality inspections, controls, and gates in place. Drive continuous improvements and ensure minimal effect on production efficiency
- Evaluate (WWR/WWW); ensure lessons learned on past projects are carried over into new projects
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline. May be replaced with 5+ years automotive quality engineering experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Effective problem solving: Root Cause Analysis, 8-D, 5-Why, etc.
- Experience in development and modification core tools (PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, PPAP, SPC).
Preferred Additional Expertise
- ASQ CQE
- ISO/IATF Internal Auditor
- Automotive Experience
- Strong Communication skills (oral and written) and ability to interact with customer daily
- PPAP documentation and submission to customer
- Experience with NDT preferred (Specifically Fluoroscopy and Dye Pen / FLPI)
