I understood this statement as: updating AS91XX to meet the updated version of ISO 9001:2008 (not ISO 9001:2000), but I could be way off - Yes, I do agree that the sentence needs clarification.:2cents:

Does your shop currently use a job control software (JobBOSS, E2, M1, Epicor, ShopKeeper)? Most of these have a quality module that ties quality documentation and production control together. Our shop uses JobBOSS and it works well for us. A little research on your part will tell you which one will work best for your shop. As far as stand alone quality document control software I would suggest Unipoint or something similar.

My interpretation was that AS9100 Rev B needed to be updated to meet ISO 9001:2008 requirements as otherwise CBs wouldn't be able to include ISO 9001 approval in with their AS9100 approvals - ISO 9001:2008 not being included in AS9100 Rev B. (indeed the last audit we had, we had to do an AS9100 Rev B compliance audit combined with a transition to ISO 9001:2008 audit as they had become out of step with each other).

However AS9100 Rev C does more than just cover ISO 9001:2008 it also is more rigorous on risk management, config management, critical items. Also the way in which it is audited is becmoing more rigorous from an effectivity approach - I'm not sure whether this approach is being adopted by the ISO 9001:2008 community.

That's my understanding anyway (although I could well be wrong)

AS9100 (NC, A, B, or C) includes all of ISO 9001 within it. The ISO portions of it are controlled by ISO, not the AOQG. When ISO 9001:2000 was scheduled for sunset, there was no choice but to upgrade the ISO portion of a registrants quality management system or they would loose everything. AS9100 cannot stand on its own. It must stand with ISO 9001, and must keep up with it.

I suspect that the delays in AS9100C were not anticipated, so moving part way to AS9100B and ISO 9001:2008 was not anticipated either. The entire AS9100C roll out has been and continues to be a disaster.

Does anyone in the manufacturing industry have a sample QMS flow chart for AS9100c that I can view

Our company is currently ISO9001 registered and we are planning on upgrading to AS9100. We have JobBoss as well here, and it works well for production control. Unipoint is the JobBoss quality module, and is not a stand alone solution. We are using both here. It is heavy on cost of quality related data for time tracking and feeding this time info back into JobBoss. Time tracking is weighted heavily. It does not do defect analysis well, IMHO, and is rather cumbersome to use, at best. The calibration portion(not a separate module?) is very hard to use, and lumps together maintenance equipment, tools and calibrated equipment. I had been looking forward to using the JobBoss Quality module, but was fairly disappointed.
Once again - there is no magic software pill to take for Quality.
:evidence:-My opinion as a long time Quality professional and Quality Manager.
