Not much has been discussed here in these forums with respect to health care and aged facilities. I can't help - But hopefully some of the more adventurous can.

Wes? You always seem to have ideas.

Yep. I looked at this. I used to own and finance skilled care nursing homes back in the 70's. We lived under tight laws and regulations in the USA. I left the trade in the early 80's. It was a source of money, but I never ran one, just put up money. USA laws required us to have state-licensed administrator and X number of registered nurses on staff (ratio per number of patients.) All other staff were trained in-house.

An Aged Care facility is a different animal entirely. Lots of variation with payment plans, whether or not residents need assistance in performing normal chores of living, geographic location, affiliation with non-profit institutions, and the like.

Sounds to me like we need someone experienced in maxifrog's "pond."

I don't have a clue what the CQI is in maxifrog's home territory.
Perhaps the CQI is for regulatory body to do inspection?

Here are the possible ASQ certs (with latest fees)

I'm a little confused. I took CQI to be Continual Quality Improvement and not an ASQ certification. I thought that Maxifrog wanted to identify his key processes to monitor them for Continual Improvement. I would have thought that someone involved in a business would be able to better determine the key processes in that business.

Some processes that come to mind are nursing, providing meals, rehabilitation services etc, but I might be off base not being involved in the business.

Ah yes. sometimes we know so much we know nothing. I bought the phrase
"currently completing Cert IV in aged care CQI" as a certification grade level. What can I say? Not my pond. Ask me about Illinois requirements where I played successfully for 12 years and I'd be hopelessly out of date today. Lots of fast changing events as all you young baby boomers start to get old and demand better facililties for yourselves and your parents who are still living.

It's up to maxifrog to put us in the picture.

thank you all for your input, Al was right in his estimation of what i needto know, which is the key processes of a high-care nursing home that must be incorporated into our quality management system.
thanks
