Lean and TS16949 - Integration

So, we are an ISO TS 16949 certified company.

We have just been bought out by a new shareholder who is somewhat fanatical about lean.

My question is simply this - has anyone looked at lean implementation integrated to an existing ISO system?

Any and all help welcomed.

Thanks:thanx:

I think a look at Toyotas TPS would be a great place to start.
Too many stakeholders think that lean is "doing more in less time with fewer employees." and for them it is simply that result that counts. While lean can achieve that goal, it does not do it for the purpose of reducing the headcount, which is really all many companies want.

ISO/TS said:
6.3.1 Plant, facility and equipment planning
The organization shall use a multidisciplinary approach (see 7.3.1.1) for developing plant, facility and equipment plans. Plant layouts shall optimize material travel, handling and value-added use of floor space, and
shall facilitate synchronous material flow. Methods shall be developed and implemented to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of existing operations.
NOTE These requirements should focus on lean manufacturing principles and the link to the effectiveness of the quality management system.

You should already be there!

Thanks - I managed to get my hands on a copy of Jeff Liker - The Toyota Way ... it did indeed prove helpful.

:agree1: Thanks the vote of confidence....

I did start yesterday with a project ... and amazingly - things tie up quite nicely. There seems to be a LSS tool or a part of Lean philosophy that dove tails with the standard.

Its just the terminology that is different.

Maybe I will upload my work when its done - albeit the standards tend to be revised from time to time.
