Hi Was it as bad as that
Matrix, sometimes the "less is more" concept doesn't work out so well. Something to consider about Lean is that the concepts are counter-intuitive to traditional manufacturing and sometimes even common sense. Single-Piece flow being faster than a batch? That is a hard concept for some to visualize, especially when their company is making money doing it the old-fashioned way.

Hi Was it as bad as that
I asked because Value Stream looked like it was made with some software--might be the software's title, and it was the first time I could recall it being mentioned in the presentation. I was just feeling confused.

What I can't tell is what the presenter would say to explain the points in the slides, which indeed should not include everything in the presentation. A good slide show is a visual aide. Maybe the presenter would explain all about Value Stream process mapping, which would be fine.

What I can advise you with certainty is:

1) Check your spelling for things like "loose" versus lose
2) Indent your bullets so they don't all line up on the left
3) Use fewer words per slide.

I hope this helps!

I would have liked to have seen the presenter's notes also. Like Jennifer, I believe that the slide show should only be bare bones, so it would be good for us to see what went with the slides. Like any audience, by just viewing the slides, we don't learn any of the deeper things.

I agree with the bullet points needing to be indented. On a power point, I would not typically mix bullets with letters (outline format). Yes, you have too much to say in the slide. Your audience will spend the entire presentation reading, and not listening.

You have a good start, but now you need to do your editing. Please don't think we are picking on you, we want to see you succeed. Keep each slide simple, with the main points kept to 1-3 words, so that the audience wants to learn more. And, as said, it is much easier for an audience such as ourselves to know what you are trying to do if you supply us with the presenter notes along with the slides so we can help you judge if you are displaying the right amount of information to your intended audience.

Is the presentation value stream map a current state map or a future state map? I typically compare the two to demonstrate the implementation plan for improvements.

You left out the biggest waste creator of all in many organizations.............Organization leadership/management!

Waste reduction has to flow from the top and that means it has to start at the top. Until the causes of waste at the highest levels of an organization are identified and corrected everything else is, well, it's a waste:lol:

How very true!?! Battling waste management at the base of the pyramid, leaving top order out of its ambit, is like being penny wise and pound foolish. :mg:
