Legal Register for OHSAS 18001

Hi. Sorry to be late to this, but I am currently doing the 18001.

The information I have is that I must have a "register of relevant legislative, regulatory and other occupational H&S requirements"
and this is a requirement under 4.3.2 Legal and Other Requirements.

Is this not the case? Have I been given bad advice?

Looks like you are looking for a 14001 and 18001 reg.

I can't speak for the OP, but it's a bit helpful for me. When I did the 14001 (which we got with no hassle in no small part thanks to the wonderful resource of this website!), part of that was a register of applicable legislation. Now I'm doing the 18001, (3 of 4! Done the 9001, 14001, doing this one and got the 27001 left to do. I must be off my rocker! :D) and it appears that part of this is also a register of applicable legislation. Having a big list of all possible H&S legislation is certainly a big help.

I now loathe ISO and I am considering jacking it all in and taking a job at mcdonalds :D

You don't appear to have a 'curls up under the desk and rocks back and forth' emoticon, nor an 'I'm not entirely sure I have a clue what I'm doing' emoticon...

What I didn't find in this list is the exact (text of) requirement to be met and also by whom, how and when. Probably there may be another document with detailed requirements but somehow I don't find this list, as it stands, much useful.

What I understand is that the document with legal inventory must serve as a reminder as to when any particular legal requirement has to be complied rather than being a compilation of titles.

I thought it was, and did it as, a list of legislation that applied to the company that must be complied with in all that the company does - all the time.

So, you'd have a piece of legislation & any connected regulations
give the details - eg your main duties and responsibilities under the legislation & regs and link it to an aspect of the business. (eg road traffic act = company vehicle use)

I assumed this to be the same.

So - display screen regs - applies to all dse users.

But it's all very confusing and I have very little idea what I'm doing.

edited to add - so it was helpful to me because from a list of all possible H&S legislation and regs - if indeed it is a list of all! - you can work out the rest of it.

I agree the list I provided was only a current list of all UK H&S Legislation, The way i used this list was to select all the legislation which applied to my organisation and then create a l register around it. Once done I created an health and safety audit by legislation and referance it to the ISO Standard.:rolleyes:

this is very detailed and looks like some time was taken creating this! I would love to find something similar for the US. We registered for 18001 last year and I'm really working to make some improvements, specificly in this 4.3.2 area. Its quite a transition for a quality guy to add this to their agenda

Sorry Mikey i'm UK based and no nothing about US Legislation. As you said its hard fit this type of work into your normalday. There must be loads of H&S People out there that can help " come on people Mikey need you" :frust:Good Luck man.
