I am likely to retire from service by the third quarter of 2009 after over thirty years of Industrial life; even though I have more than a year to retire, I thought it is better to start planning the life after retirement at least now. (by the way, some plan for their retirement immediately after getting their first job!!!). I have thought of various options after retirement...some of them are:
1. Relax and enjoy life...you missed many things during the active service life...now is the time to relax and do things that you always wanted to do
2. Look for another job...you have to keep yourself busy; otherwise you will rot
3. You have an option of full time Professorship; take up this interesting assignment to build a school of Sustainability
4. Continue with your professional activities; start a consultancy with your friends, experts in various fields, as partners
5. Enjoy your time with Grand Children..and children who are far away from India, in the USA. Baby sitting is a good pass-time
6. Join an NGO and work for the cause of the Society
7. Start an NGO...for the aged and the retired
8. Help friends, on a regular basis, in carrying out their work
9. Start playing in the Stock market; you were not able to do even a single transaction so far
Would you like to add a few more options ? I still have time to decide...who knows one of your options may provide me a turning point in my life.
