Linking customer claims to FMEA

I have a question concerning FMEA
we received a customer claim, we solved the problem after analyzing it using 8D report, but we didn't update FMEA (since the cause of the problem weren't included in the FMEA analysis)
will it be a non-conformity in the audit day?

Will it be a finding? Potentially. But that isn't the thing you should be worried about. Why didn't you update the FMEA when you discovered a new cause? Why wouldn't' you want to update your new knowledge and help prevent or mitigate future problems?

Yes. You need to update your FEMA to include the new information. That will solve one issue.

The second is why was it missed in the first place. I would do an internal CA to fix it before an auditor does. Easier to fix without the nonsense a third party auditor will add.

This is a big point of emphasis these days. Good luck.

That's exactly right. If the failure mode is valid and there is a potential for recurrence, why wouldn't you want to learn from this and operationalize this knowledge? Aren't FMEA's a component of organizational knowledge that should be managed? People need to stop focusing on passing audits and, develop and improve an effective system, instead.
